At some point in time, it is quite conceivable the early stock was used up & the newer design was phased in to production. There would have been no reason for Pontiac to match quarters, side for side, when the difference is so insignificant. It would also stand to reason, that there were many more late cars done this same way.
How late in July was this one built?

My car was built in July and the pass quarter is the newer style with more of the triangular look and the drivers side has the square early quarter. Both are original quarters to the car.
