Actually Stainless steel retains and traps heat very well. It works almost like a header wrap. The pipe is out front in the colder air and will cool which is actuallyy a little bad because you want to keep as mch heat energy in the xhaust as possible for a turbo system that heat energy as it expands is what helps drive the turbine side of the turbocharger and makes more power.

My car ran in the 9's with mild steel headers that didnt trap nearly the amount of heat these will.

I think that was a good question.

Onmy car I will be adding a chin spiler of some type to both help retain heat and to stabilize the car at higher speeds. alot of air can get under a car at 145 MPH.LOL
