take 5 minutes remove the tailgate , having a bike fall on you from that height is not comfortable , at the dealership they refuse to load the bikes with the tailgate on , I use the gap for the plate as a ramp guide and use good nylon( 3500 rating ) tiedowns to hold the ramp to the truck by using the safety chain slots in the trailer hitch as I had a ramp try to kick out while loading my RD and its only 400 punds
