A Good friend of mine, Bill Klausing, one time installed 3 of the Holley #6425, 650 CFM 2 bbl carbs on a 66 Cast Iron Intake. I told him I thought that the 500 cfm carbs might be a better deal for him. The #6425, 650 CFM carbs have special venturis with built in annular discharge passages. CFM is about 437 each so over 1300 REAL cfm on top of the intake.
That being said, the car was a 1963 Catalina Wagon with a built up 455 engine using ported cast iron heads. The car ran 12.06 ET but only ran 106 mph as the body was a "brick" at speed vs 115 mph. The car ran the fastest ET/MPH with the end carbs NOT open all the way at wot.
