My '66 Tempest wagon accumulated 292,000 miles on it's 326 2 bbl/ ST 300 tranny combo before I pulled it back in 1987 for the 455/TH 400. The 326 still ran well (had a timing chain replaced once-was about to need it again- but lower end was still tight.) My dad had the slushbox two speed tranny rebuilt at about 140,000, and was going to need it again (especially behind the 455 I was going to install). Would still be in there if it wasn't for me liking the thrust of the 455 better.

Put 90,000 on the 455 since then. the majority of the miles I rack up on a car now I do to my '74 Cutlass.
