Just confirmed with the former owner, the R/A II Firebird I referenced above was indeed black with a turquoise painted top. He has the original paperwork somewhere in his files, but he's yet to locate it.
In fact, he and his buddy ordered two Ram Air Firebirds on the same day. His buddy's four speed came in about two weeks before his and it was a d-port motor. His came a bit later and was equipped with the R/A II. He had no clue what it was and it ran about as we'll as his buddy's d-port engine. It wasn't until he added deeper gears that he could outrun it.
Diego, that's a good point. It's unlikely there were two of them delivered to Iowa but it's certainly possible.
