I guess my homemade hemi blower manifold could be called "sheet metal"; 3/8" aluminum sides/front/rear with 1/2" top and 1/4" bottom. Total cost was very low- I machined and formed the pieces and paid a local shop (not a race shop) to TIG it together. I provided him with a bare long block to use as a "jig". I only had to do minor milling of the flange and top surfaces after it was completed. I probably paid more to have it professionally polished than it cost to fabricate!
