Depending on where you pulled your numbers there could be a little variance. But not much. Sounds like a wash to me.
You say they knocked 10hp off for comparative purposes.
Yes, the Camaro is heavier. Yes it has a little bit more HP. It is also substantially down on torque from the Eco-Boost with the V6 Camaro coming in at 278 while the little 4 cylinder Mustang pumps out 320.
How did you miss pointing that out?

Well, I got my numbers that according to Road and Track are directly from Ford:

Here are the official numbers, straight from Ford, "pending certification."
For this sixth generation, the base 3.7-liter V6 model’s power rating drops from 305 hp to 300 hp.
The base V6 fastback with a manual weighs in at 3526 lbs, an increase of 30 lbs over the 2014 model. With an automatic, the curb weight is 3530 lbs, a 12-lb increase.

So the 2014 V6 weighed 3496. The 3530 pound number that you say was for the 2014 is actually for the 2015 V6 auto.

And what does the EcoBoost weigh? In base trim with a stick, 3532 lbs. That's 36 lbs more than a V6-equipped 2014 car.
