One real difference in Germany's resources and the U.S.'s was the forced labor they had to utilize in occupied countries, whereas the U.S. was totally self sufficient with a motivated work force and even supported her allies with a staggering amount of materiel.
Hitler's leadership was certainly in no small way a major factor also but even with good leadership, I think that in the 1940s Germany and Japan lose a war of attrition with the U.S., GB and the USSR....but it may have been a much longer and costlier war.
