What? Like computers, space travel, and cell phones?
Is it a perfected science? Not yet. Is it a little bit of a novelty in some senses? Yes. Does my tiny percentage of Middle Eastern and Jewish heritage explain my occasional moments of internal conflict? No. For me, it answered 4 decades of questions and speculation on where I came from, and why I looked like I do. I found out more from spitting in a tube than I found out by spending hundreds of $$$ and many years trying to search closed adoption records.
From my experience, I would counter with "absolutely NOT nonsense". But perhaps it's not for everyone.
