You mention 1000 HP through the th400, and giving up a Jerico for that. From my memory, and doing the math in my head, it'll take about 1700 HP with an automatic to be 1/2 as fun as 800 HP with a Jerico.
Seriously: I twisted a th350 input off with a very mild 455, stock (tight) converter, and a hard shift kit. Upgrade the th400 input for sure.
