Thank you for posting this Post Toastie!
Everyone ordering new Muncie 4 spd parts should watch Paul's YouTube presentation of this Chinese mess. I'm betting eventually numerous of the problem Chinese parts will be blown out on eBay.
To recap the most glaring issues for the "ALL NEW" Chinese M22:
-the poorly copied shifter "arms" that are softer rockwell hardness & improperly machined & won't except original shifter rod levers. Paul's replacements are $145 for the pair.
-the poor design cluster shaft pin, needs to be replaced with Paul"s version for better front support.
-too deep mismachining of the recess in the rear of the case will have to be addressed.
-Speedo gear on output shaft is going to have to be replaced with one of the several original styles, or a correct reproduction.
-Don't like the appearance of the oddball casting number on the side of the case, but at least the seller is not trying to pass it off as an exact appearance "661" Muncie case.
The funniest thing about the Copycat bunch in China, a stock geared M22 is not the best choice out there, esp for many of us Pontiac guys. 2.20 x 3.31 is a horrible overall 1st gear ratio, 2.20 x 3.55 isn't much better. PTL they didn't copy to a high level of quality a new M23W.
In closing, Paul @ 5Speeds.com will be getting a decent sized parts order from me.
