As mentioned, they are mechanically interchangeable, but they are different parts. the center section of the '67 is from an A-body and it has the upper 4 link mounts cast into it but are not used on the leaf spring F-body cars.
As mentioned- the '67 housing could be had with traction bars if you had a 326HO or 400 model. they were separate mounts on the housing and had mounting plates welded into the floor pan of the Firebird. I believe autos had one bar and the manuals had 2. both my '67 326HO 3 speed manual) and '67 400 (4 speed manual) have 2. Attached is a pic of my '67 400 4 speed rear axle for reference. so there are a few different housing set ups depending on your 1967 Firebird model.
Bottom line is if you're looking to get your car driving either would work. if you're restoring a car to be correct you need the right year and version (if 1967)
