Yeah, they're out there, you just gotta look and wait. I went through this journey a few years ago when looking for a trunk lid for my '66. I ended up buying two - the first one turned out to have thin spots that opened up into holes/perforations which only became apparent when wire-wheeling it. It looked completely solid in photos and in-person until cleanup work began. The second one I got from a member here who had been storing it for over 35 years. It, too needed some work, but was easily fixable and overall very good.

So they're still around, for now... It would sure be nice if the aftermarket finally made a reproduction trunk lid for both the '66 and '67 model years. I'm definitely not going to hold my breath on that one, but I was surprised to see that you can now finally buy a full 1966 quarter panel after how many decades of us asking. Anything is possible.
