Default Long shot power steering and brakes, hydroboost

Does anyone make a line kit for an early A body that is already terminated with the proper fittings etc. I have the kit that came with the conversion from CPP. The kit will work I guess but the thought of making the hoses is daunting,. All the fittings are there I just dread it plus I don’t trust the pushlok

Hmmm, Go watch some videos on connecting these hose ends. You need to understand how the system works. As far as not trusting the hose ends well that's a different story. These companies that supply this lines and fittings are not your back yard manufactures. What brand lines do you have and fittings. Post a pic of them.

You can get pre-assembled lines from Hydratech but they are not cheap.

Jim at Hydratech does only one end for you. You have to measure cut and do the other end yourself. I'm sure you could get him measurements and he would make them for you. It's a very easy procedure to install the ends.

I know my local Napa will make custom presure hoses in house. Might be worth a shot.

You leave a lot of details lacking. Hydro boost only way to go!

I fabricating my own hoses , bracket, etc.
Used Gates hoses that would fit 83 Chevy PU Hydroboost itself, re-bent lower end and cut off O ring fittings and did double flare to fit steering box and PS pump.

Very Professional installation, Old Goat 67.
Wish mine looked that good. 83 Chevy PU Hydroboost and proper lines for that application.
Will save that info for a potential upgrade. 64speed, do you have the parts installed already?

When I did mine I bought the hose kit but didn't like it laying on the inner finder so I measured and went to a local shop that made hoses and made them longer so I could run them inside the finder laying on top of the inner fender and it comes out by the power steering box, just a little cleaner looking for me.

Thank you Tom.

I hate the aftermarket look.
BUT, the addition of the Hydro Boost was what these cars needed when new.
God only knows how many of us lost their lives because of that.

It’s not that it’s cheap it’s that I have never used pushlok. It’s just regular high pressure rubber hose and the hose ends that have the little yellow discs on them. The other end is professcrimped AN fittings for my box

I never said anything about the word cheap. My lines that came with my hydraboost from Hydratech were teflon with an outer stainless braid. Like these.

http://www.hydratechbraking.com/hose_fittings.html

You can see the Aeroquip line has a teflon inner hose. This line is rated 2500 to 3000 lbs I just assumed you had this type of line, why I said the ends are easy to do.

I'm not sure what lines you have or are working with. Be nice to see part numbers or pics.

Is this the type of fittings you have at bottom of page?

https://www.parker.com/static_conten.../4281%20B1.pdf

I'm starting to get confused. I assumed your running these lines for a Hydraboost braking unit, and running the lines from your power steering pump. Is this correct?

Default I Don't Know

David,

Did your directions say the hydroboost would work with it mounted upside down?

I'd be worried about air getting trapped in that cannister with the lines coming in from the bottom.

Clueless so asking
Clay

I could be wrong, but I believe the way he has it mounted is the way I typically see it installed in A-bodies.

Same way as mine, works good. Must wear seat belt. I used Russel Braided lined hose and made my own.

Yes thats the way it comes from CPP. I was concerned too but they said it had to be mounted that way.

Ok let me rephrase all this. Does anyone know of any hoses that are a direct fit or at least a little closer? These hoses that are pre crimped are generic 90 degree fittings. Then of course there are the pushloks that I have never used before but I am sure its not rocket science. I just wondered if anyone had done this in an A body and said hey a 1983 C30 fits perfectly (just for example)
