I replaced the motor and lines as well as the reservoir and I get no flow even though the pump is working. is there some sort of trick to prime it or other secret to getting it going ?

Did you check the bellows? Be sure that you are, in fact, sucking when the piston is moving.
In my experience 3, 4, 5 cycles should get you something unless there is a blockage at the jet, a bad supply line, or a bellows not sealing tightly against the wall and not producing any suction. Best advice OTTOMH.

It helped when I took a mouth full of water and pushed the water into the pump through the suction line.

I would if it worked. Would be nice to be able to wash the windshield occasionally when needed

Since I posted, I removed my pump ant tested it, I forgot I put a new one in like 25 years ago, I’d bench test the one you have. I picked up 5 pumps years ago for the stash. Prob won’t need any, Get a 12v supply, bench test yours.
