Default To all prius owners......

GET THE PUCK OUT OF THE WAY......

I drive a lot. I have dozens of circumstances where Prius owners are camped out in the fast lane at 58mph, with 15 cars behind them.

I applaud you for driving a hybrid but don't sit out there and try and control the traffic.

Thanks, that feels better.

I finally found out why they don't go any faster. A Prius owner told me if they hit 60-62 MPH the gas mode kicks in and engine takes over from electrics....That's cool....but like you say.....move the hell over in the slow lane !!!! I get so frickin' pi$$ed at that kind of crap..WOW...was that me ??

He's full of crap. You can't drive 60mph on electric only. Chevy Volt or Nissan Leaf for sure, but that's not how a Prius is set up. If you put the Prius in EV mode and try to go faster than parking lot speeds, it shuts down and states "cancelled due to excessive acceleration"

The "Hyper Milers" may have found a sweet spot at that speed but it has nothing to do with switching from electric to gas.

We do have a problem all over this country with people who are generally inconsiderate of other drivers. The Smith system is very good and everybody should follow it (but dont). The truck drivers should just let the idiots in the fast line go barreling by without being the "Jury". Let the police take care of these people-saw one get nailed by the men in blue for this nonsense just 2 days ago on an Interstate. And the race car drivers on the street should take into account the lack of acceleration/manuvering capability/visibility/and fatigue that plagues big rig drivers. And as for modern speed contests on the street, most of our cars are likely too nice to put at risk racing unqualified egomaniacs on the street anyhow, even if it was legal. I have let all these people run my blood pressure up in the past and it simply isnt worth it. These "Left Lane Bandits" have always been there-just for the record. They just used to drive different cars than the Prius. They have been in Simcas, Renualt Dauphines, Fiat 500s,Diesel Chevettes and Izuzu I-Marks,Metros,4wd Toyota Corollas, any kind of small 4 cyl diesel powered pickups,Yugos, etc. And some people have a more powerful car but either are totally ignorant that the traffic is piling up behind them(they may be on the phone or doing their hair) or have the before mentioned "self proclaimed speed limit and traffic law enforcment mentality. Unfortunantly, we have to just live with all this nonsense while driving. Its not going away any faster than the same people in grocery stores or retail markets that walk backwards or in super slow motion when you are trying to get at something.

What i hate is the guy who thinks just because i'm doing 75-80mph he has to ride my ass.
Then when i speed up to put some space between me and him,he speeds up and still rides my ass.Till i give him a brake check! Then they get pissed off!

Then get out of the fast lane! The law sez "slower traffic keep right". And that's regardless of what the speed limit is, or how fast you're already going. The left lane is for passing. Not for habitually driving in.

Just "punt" them out of your way, especially if your driving a truck.

I'm sure many will feel a different state deserves this award more, but I think Ohio drivers earn the all time left lane camping title.

Even when I'm on vacation a few states over, the left lane campers usually have Ohio tags.

Yep. Coming across the Ohio turnpike Sunday before last, we were constantly having to use the right lanes to blast by cruise controllers in the left lane.

The majority of Pirus drivers I saw were staying in the slow lane though.
There seemed to be a high frequency of seeing that model in the New England States.

in my 8 month stint in ohio-cincy- this year i found that also, using your turn signal for lane changes is a bad move, i swear its like giving them a warning to speed up, everytime i get on 75 in that state to go somewhere everybodies just fine going 50-60-70 or whatever they wanna do but soon as they see someone fixing to get in there lane up ahead they wanna speed up, maybee just didnt like my outta state tags so i just quit using the signals altogether in traffic there and replaced it with a friendly oklahoma wave, the -finger- and givem a reason to be disgruntled.

we have roadrage here in oklahoma iam even guilty of it, " cut me off and then smurk about it and theres probaly gonna be an issue" but in ohio they drive around looking for people that looks like they need the finger dealt to

Yep, I'd bet Florida can give you a run for that title. We get all the tourists from EVERY state, and it's usually the ones that can't drive. Our locals are usually bluehairs, driving a Buick or Cadillac, barely peeking over the dash and completely oblivious to anyone else on the road. They're knockin' on the door as it is, what do they care? And then we have a large influx of foreign tourists. We get bad drivers from all over the world here! And, if that's not enough, it seems that nobody on the highway has ever seen precipitation before, because as soon as it starts raining, it's like a race to see who can slow down to 35mph and turn on their flashers. Oh that bugs me! If you want to turn on your flashers so bad, pull over! Not to mention it's actually illegal here in FL!

OK, rant off, back to topic.

Yup, I lived in FT Lauderdale when it was voted the most dangerous city for pedestrian traffic.

Honestly in my weekly trips up to MA to see my Mom in the nursing home it's the Acura drivers I find the most agressive.

I have discovered that where they may try to pick a fight with me in my Tacoma, they won't bother me in the Ford.

If the flow of traffic is, say 70 m.p.h., then going the "Speed Limit" in the passing lane is dangerous. Put your blinker on and move over! Simple.
