Default You know you drive a TEMPEST when

I didn't want to hijack that other thread in the Lobby (You know you drive a Pontiac when... ), but I'm sure we First Gen and especially Transaxle drivers can come up with some.

You know you drive a Tempest when you stop at a diner for lunch and a Know-it-All announces to the entire diner "You better call a tow truck right now because your rear axle is broken". (happened to me coming back from Norwalk)

I can do this one, too

(lol)

Your friend says "...I don't know what's wrong with your car, but I just twisted off all five wheel lugs trying to change your tire"

YKYDATW -

the new rally wheels you just bought won't fit.

YKYDATW -

People approach you and say "...gee, I've NEVER seen one of those before!"

YKYDATW -

You KNOW it's a Ford hood scoop.

You know exactly how many Super Duty cars were built (...including "mule" cars).

You can jack your car up as high as the jack will go and the rear tire will never leave the ground.

You went nuts over a certain Ebay auction containing a rusty, nondescript looking little white car.

You think cutting a V8 in half is a perfectly rational idea.

You think having the engine and the transmission at opposite ends of the car is a perfectly rational idea.

...You spend an hour on the phone with a now defunct wheel provider arguing that a 63 Tempest wheel has a 4.5x5 bolt pattern.

and if you see one in a parking lot 3,000 miles from home you probably know the owner, even though it is 2,000 miles away from it's home. (Banshee!?)

Hanging the torque converter off of the differential is normal.

At the car show people walk past the GTO's so they can look under the back of your car.

The parts counter man thinks you are nuts when he can't find a listing for a Pontiac four so you tell him to give you the V-8 part.
