Anyone here ever buy parts from them? Is the quality good, and do they really have all the parts your car will ever need as the jingle goes lol.

I will not buy everyday parts on the internet. When I need a part, I need it now not 2 or 3 days from now and if they send the wrong or defective part, now I'm down 2 or 3 more days making the shop held up for about a week. Plus, I like a neck to wring if I get that wrong or crappy part.

I have been buying parts from them for years - probably since they started.

That being said, I do buy many parts local, but the more expensive stuff I do buy online - What can I say, we're on a budget.

To summarize what they do (or maybe their old model, as I have understood it);
They buy up inventory from warehouses/businesses that shut down, and sell them at great prices.
Their system is flawed just like any other catalog, so sometimes you need to go into a search knowing what you're looking for (case and point is a hydraulic clutch for a 1991 Grand Am 2.3L - most catalogs & applications try to sell you the Izusu hydraulics instead of the correct Muncie hydraulics).

Yes. If you need it ahead of time or are sourcing all of the parts for a big job, this is the route to go.

That said, make sure you get all of the parts from the same shipping warehouse, as they do tend to nickel and dime you on shipping.

You need to watch near check out;
Sometimes you need to select seven versions pf the same part to source a part from the same warehouse as other parts in order to save on shipping.

I have bought from them a number of times, never received the wrong part.

Their parts prices are good, but their shipping prices are not.

With decent discounts at local parts places, if the parts are available I order them online and pick them up. With the discounts and no shipping, they'll be less expensive "all-in" than from Rock Auto.

I did once recieve an "extra" part that wasn't on my invoice;
I believe I deduced it to being a factory replacement Mustang conical air filter...
I contacted them and asked if I should send it back, they told me to keep it;

They have the best prices on auto parts hands down. I need to do front brakes on Avalanche and rotors with pads will probably be about 150 shipped. Try doing that at any local parts store, not going to happen. I could probably go real cheap and pay a hondo for rotors and pads. I will say local parts places have better warranties though. The core price is kind of a rip off since you have to pay to ship core back, which comes out of core price from Rockauto. I do like the 5% discount codes makes a person feel like they are getting a even better deal.

They have different manufacturers listed for the parts. For the hard to replace things I like to buy quality branded parts (oem suppliers).

One nice thing about Rock Auto is they usually give you a choice of economy parts to professional grade parts.

Only place I could buy a reasonably priced fuel tank for my wife's car. $475 CDN instead of $1-2K.

Good advise guys, do they sell parts for our classic cars too? I get a lot of parts for my birds at NAPA, but it’s hit or miss there.

Yes, not long ago bought parts for my 1956 VW bus and my 1964 Le Mans.

I need stuff for bird #2 the 78 TA. The previous owner put all chrome summit racing stuff on it. Brake booster, valve covers, alternater, oil filler cap, almost everything is chrome. Not my style. Plus it needs brakes and who knows what I’ll find when we rip the dash out to replace the white racing gauges he put in. Who knows what they did to the wiring behind the gauge panal.

I would like to think most hobbyist can wait a day or two for their parts, so online isn't too bad. I have a buddy who will order online from AZ or Advance (not sure which) then go pick it up at the local store within a couple of hours. To me that is pretty good service.

Those valve covers are fine, the W72 used chrome valvecovers. Even if these don't have drippers, they're close. But I really want someone to use that oil filler cap as a baseball...
