Any top-speeed runs above 120 MPH would be a lot less hairy if the front end were down lower.

Lowering it some would keep it plowing through the air and reduce any tendancy to lift the front of the car at speed.

Good point, it's always looked like sat a little higher in the front than in the rear and I don't think the E-heads and Al intake made that any better. I don't want to get it to low either because I drive it on back roads that tend to be a bit bumpy and I don't want it bottoming out either. I've got a stock replacement shock on it right now and I'm going to upgrade to a set of gas shocks so that might give me a bit of a buffer if I lower the car. Before I ever really get the thing up to speed I have to upgrade the breaks to 4wd too. I've had it to 156 before but that is faster than the present configuration should be run at. About 140 is as fast as I should run it now and it's a bit spooky at those speed at that. Like you said at about 120 is where it starts to feel a bit light. The way it sets right now 120 is "cruising" speed for the engine. I need to live in Montana or Wyoming! lol What the ultimate plan is to put a 5-spd and 3.55's in it. It will be about the same top speed but wont be such a pain in the ass around town. It's capable of doing 70 in first at 6,000rpm but that makes it a pain to drive at low speed and actually puts it far enough down on the cam that at 70 it's really lugging down to far. I think I'm turning about 2,100 at 70 in 4th. I should run it in 3rd at that speed it feels like.

Unfortunately I don't think it will be on the road now before spring. 410hp at the wheels would be cool!

The engine is together now so it wont be a real long time before it's on the dyno... I hope. With the Canton pan on there it looks "Road Racy".

When he gets it back together we are going to do a run on the dyno for peak hp and top speed.

Well it will soon be setting on the dyno shown below. I'll do a hp run and a top speed run. My buddy got it running a couple days ago and it sounds WICKED. The "Big Guy" did me right on the #10 cam I can tell. I'll have to send him the dyno sheet. The carb was tuned to Cliff's specs and works fine out of the box other than it's a little fat on the idle circuit (nothing major at all) and the throttle reponse is PERFECT!!! It's like glass smooth, like fuel injection! The guy that rebuilt it did it from Cliff's book so there is my plug for the book. Now it's a matter of some fine tuning but the carb works fantastic on the over all! Thanks Cliff for publishing the info.
