I am getting tired of this. Still no wheel and I may not get it back in time to make the Emerald Coast Cruise-in on Nov. 6th! Add to that, my top quit working and I need to replace the tires but I'm not going to spring for new tires if I'm not going to make the trip! I will get the tires eventually
On the top, I have power across the relay on the firewall but my back won't let me get up under the dash to check the switch or get in the trunk to check that connection. I may have to undergo spine surgery in the very near future to repair bulging discs that are a result of the wreck I was in over two months ago!

I think my car doesn't want to go to Panama City next weekend! I was returning from our cruise in last night and when I went over a railroad crossing the repro horn button fell off! One of the ears on it broke. So, I drilled the rivets out of an old button and drilled the new one to take rivets, swapped out retaining plates and got it fixed! Then I hooked up a On-Off-On switch to my top and got it working. So, unless the wheels fall off I will be driving it to the Emerald Coast Cruise next Thursday.

I forgot to add a picture showing the backs of the OEM and repro buttons. I used a padded punch to push the emblem out of the repro button. Then I ground the nubs off to remove the tangs. I drilled the rivets out of the OEM button and used it as a pattern to drill holes in the repro, I then riveted the OEM tang to the repro button, reinstalled the emblem and am good to go.

Yeah, looks great. The color of your interior looks just like mine and that reminds me of an unpleasant task I have to do, that being, I have to stick a piece of interior vinyl in an envelope to ship all the way to California to get a quart of paint mixed for my rear seat and bucket seat backs.
I hate not being able to just order what I need or better yet, walk into my local body supply house and get it...

Greg, can't a local paint store do a scan for the correct color you need? Should work for interior color too. Or are they really faded so it won't work?

The stuff I'm matching to is brand new. They probably could do it but I have doubts about the place since they changed management.
In fact, now that you mention it, I called there and spoke with a lady about it back in the summer. Asked her if they carried the SEM interior color products and she said, 'Yes, we carry them. What color do you need?" I told her it was a factory color and she said they didn't carry factory colors. "Can you match it to my samples?"....Silence....then "Uh, no, we don't do that."
I just spoke with SEM products directly after that. They said they could do it no problem but I've just been procrastinating. I'll mail it out to them in the next couple of days and get it over with.

Just got back from the Emerald Coast Cruizin at Panama City Beach, Fla. and I am wore slap out! We put 431 miles on the car from Thursday until today without a problem! It drove and rode great! I got a lot of compliments on it and had a whale of a time! The only downer was the weather Saturday, I nearly froze! The sun never did come out and it was cold. I don't think it got out of the 50s and I was dressed for 70s! My buddy sat in his Chevelle with the motor running and I sat right by it to get some heat off the motor!
I took over 200 pictures but have to delete some that didn't come out right, then I am going to attempt to make a slideshow for Y'all to watch. I can say that Pontiac and especially GTOs were well represented. I think there were over a dozen Goats, several Firebirds and TAs and a few big cars.
I figured my gas mileage and running about 65mph I got about 17.8mpg. In town I got over 16 so I am satisfied.
Well, I'm going to get a hot shower and see if I can warm up. Y'all have a good one.

Phil, did you get your interior dye from TCP Global? I sent a sample to SEM in the Carolinas and they said they tried but failed to get a match on it. It's the same as yours as far as I can tell. Did they match a sample or just get you the factory color?

I think that is the place. Here's a picture of the can if it helps any. I think I got it in flat finish and after Norman sprayed the top of the dash he added semi gloss clear for the rest of the interior. The little bit i have left in the can is semi-gloss. I have the receipt in one of the ten manilla folders and can look for it if you need more info.

I'll check with them tomorrow so don't bother digging yet. I just wonder if it's going to match if SEM couldn't match it using an actual piece of the material. Makes me wonder if the Legendary stuff is accurate.
I'm about ready to put it back together with the old mismatched stuff, black seatbacks and all!

The trim paint in my car is not a perfect match for the Legendary seat covers either.

I might just clean mine up and go with them as they are. I mean, they are already mismatched...why pay money for another mismatch? Seat backs are black though.
