I did say a REALLY light car, how much power does it take to run 7.99 in 2200-2300lb car?
For the N/A guys doing it on small tires, or no wheelie bars weighing around 3000lbs, that is very impressive!

slowbird, come on, it takes lots of money and knowledge or good people around you to run 10seconds, then go to 9s, 8s, and 7s. We ran 7:30s with around 1000hp and with a motor that started out in the summer after the freshen up at 7:80s. It's not easy and very expensive. If it was that easy everyone would be doing it. You can buy a pretty good older Pro Stock really light chassis for what 40, 50 grand ? Buy a 1000 to 11-1200hp motor for what another 40, 50 and there you go, 7:99 !!

Update for my Tempest. I ran a 7.671 @ 181.59 at Wildhorse Pass at the Phoenix Drag Reunion (Pontiac Heaven) event yesterday. Density altitude was 1954'---ideal weather conditions for Arizona. It was my first pass at 10% over on the blower. I was leaking oil bad from the driver side valve cover and one of the bolts is stripped, so I was done for the weekend.

Discovered today when I looked at the Racepak data, I was on the rev limiter at 8,000 for the last second and a half of the pass. Guess I'll have to readjust that.

For George: my boost was at about 15.7#. I looked for you in my rear view mirror (figuratively speaking), but you were too far back to see.

Who needs them fancy new heads? My older than Edelbrock Wenzler Super Chiefs seem to work OK.

I think it's almost exactly 3,000# with me in the car. It was 3040# when I was running the air dam in the front. I didn't see a scale at Wildhorse, but there must be one--the NHRA national event is there this coming week. Too much for this old man to remember.

1/8th was 4.954 @ 143.67. My 60' was a lazy 1.181. I've been 1.16, IIRC. I'll definitely reset the top end limiter tomorrow when I drain the fuel cell, etc. I'm sure I left some on the table. It was my first 10% over pass. The EGT's all looked good, but there's definitely room for improvement. It's tough in Tucson. The track is at 3075'. I may head back to Phoenix again before it gets too hot. The track and weather were awesome this weekend.

Funny side note: I always drive my car to the lanes and back. After the oil leak in the shutdown area, I left my car on the return road. First time I ever picked up my time slip at the timing shack on foot!

Congratulations on a really great run. That 1/8 mile was great and the blower car would have been even stronger in the 1/4. Rev limiter hurt you for sure. 184 MPH wasn't out of the question!. That's "Pontiac Heaven".
