Reading all of the posts again, I think I was too harsh with my statement. It's obvious that the coastal state BMW drivers suck, and that trait extends into Canada.

My apologies to you, Stuart.

BMW just doesn't have the aura about it that it used to, compared to some of the other euro brands.
I would have to agree and put Mercedes up there with Audi as well.

If you think drivers of every other brand suck, maybe it's not them. With all the different responses here, I'm starting to think its Pontiac drivers that suck.

Ooooh Snap!
Actually, the worst drivers here are Uber drivers. I was reading that there’s a whole crapload of new cars and new drivers on the road and that they tend to be new to the country. These guys don’t give a crap. You could lay in the horn and they wouldn’t even acknowledge you. That’s the way it is where they came from.

Or you could recognize that stereotypes usually develop and exist for a reason

Even if stereotypes are rooted in observation and others accounts on top of our own...…….

with my luck and shame on me if I fall to the 1% exception and judge somebody wrong

In Montana, by per capita truck ownership being the huge majority, I could stupidly say most bad drivers I see are pickup drivers. Therefore, by the Assumptive Rule of Scientific Analysis, Bad Drivers are predominately pickup drivers. Fact, many of you own pickups. Therefore, you must be bad drivers. Wait...…………………. bad drivers = suck.

Conclusion: Most of you suck, since I also Assume the majority here own a truck.

Extension: Y'all might as well own BMW's.

I don't think there's any particular correlation between the brand of car and the skill of the driver. There are good drivers and bad drivers out there in every kind of vehicle.

It's like when I read claims that every person from the state of (fill in the blank, usually the adjacent state to whoever is claiming it) is a terrible driver. If you look around long enough you'll find that claim being made for every state in the union.

Stuart my friend he apologized, sometimes we say things, read them back and realize we put our foot in our mouth. He apologized, cut a little slack, we’ve all done it one time or another.

There may be a bit of a disconnect here when it comes to terms.. There are bad drivers, meaning those who lack skill or common sense, and are dangerous and infuriating as a result. These people are dangerous on the road because driving on busy roads shared with many other drivers takes a certain amount of skill to do well. But then there are also entitled drivers and assholes, which are equally dangerous and infuriating, but for different reasons. They may have plenty of driving skill, but they think they own the road and are more entitled to it than everyone else, and they drive aggressively and selfishly.

Commonly held stereotypes amongst large numbers of people do not develop for no reason. Any one person or small group of people in one area may develop some personal biases, but when large numbers of people who are entirely unrelated to each other and in different parts of the country/world believe something, odds are there is a reason for that. Denying that is to deny humanity, as we all have the trait among us where we are able to spot trends and commonalities and such. This is simple human nature.

If you spent any length of time in my area, you would have to be utterly blind and oblivious to not recognize the blatantly obvious trend for recent, wealthier California transplants to drive like assholes here. I've been here long enough and have spent enough time on the roads to have seen and recognized the trend. As a whole, native Nevadans tend to drive more reasonably, closer to the speed limit, use blinkers, more courteous, etc.. But the recent California transplants with higher end cars are far, far more likely to drive aggressively, weave through traffic, significantly exceed the speed limit, etc.. It's just reality.

I've been using a dashcam for the last year and a half, and I save all the clips involving all the many types of idiocy, aggressive or otherwise bad driving I encounter(and plan to make a compilation video one of these days). Perhaps perusing through those clips would help show the bias, since some people seem to want to deny that trends do in fact exist on the road.

Edit: To say that certain types of drivers suck more than others does not mean that ALL of those types of drivers suck. When I said above that I see more entitled Audi drivers than any other make, that does not meant that ALL Audi drivers suck, it means that Audi drivers are more likely to suck. But since people seem to like to get offended about everything, it gets taken in ways other than the intended meaning. Stuart, if you are not one of the bad BMW drivers, there is no reason to take offense to anyone talking crap about BMW drivers, because they aren't talking about you.

I was referring to the entire thread. People are calling out drivers of all different kinds of cars. I suppose it may be different in other parts of the country, but in Minnesota I haven't been able to see any such trends.

I should have been more clear - I used the term bad driver, but meant it to cover all the other adjectives that have been used.

Again, I don't see how ownership of a particular brand means anything, positive and negative skill and attitude levels are pretty well spread out evenly across the board.

I'm not trying to start a fight, arguing on the Internet is about the only thing more pointless than stereotypes. I don't normally even post in these kinds of discussions, maybe I was just having a bad day.

I don't really think anyone is being deadly serious about one type of car or another being synonymous with bad driving. I know I'm not.
I saw an ambulance driver the other day cut off several drivers as he did one of those last minute moves to cut across two lanes of traffic to catch his exit. No emergency lights on at all. I've also seen a police cruiser do the same thing within the last couple of months.
I do expect that they both drive BMWs as their personal cars....or possibly Subarus...or maybe Pontiacs....I guess.

Ah yes, so now people with tinted windows are also pricks. I see.

We might as well start a list of things in the automotive world that makes people asshats. So far we have the following:

European car owners (BMW/Audi seem to be of particular suckage)
Lifted trucks
Lowered trucks
Hummer owners
Range Rover owners
People with any sort of window tint
Subaru owners
People who drive cheaper daily transportation
