Yes that are as far as bolting in the rear track width is 60”, but in both years and even up thru 1969 there carrier’s
will only accept certain gear ratios as in.
2.56 to 2.78.

2.93 to 3.23.

3.36 to 4.33.

In 68 all the manual transmission cars got the HD 4 pinion Posi with 3.36 to 4.33 gears ( if the car did not have AC )and even the 6 cylinder cars with a manual trans supposedly got the HD 4 pinion rear also .

Naturally auto trans cars could have had the HD on special order.

In mid 69 the ring gear bolts changed from 3/8” to 7/16”.

Actually 69 is closer to 68 than 67 is.
68-9 used multi leaf springs, staggered shocks
67 used mono leaf
67 also used radius rods(like traction bars)
69 had flat spots on tubes for jounce bushings

internals were same as the GTO/LeMans/Tempest

As mentioned, they are mechanically interchangeable, but they are different parts. the center section of the '67 is from an A-body and it has the upper 4 link mounts cast into it but are not used on the leaf spring F-body cars.

As mentioned- the '67 housing could be had with traction bars if you had a 326HO or 400 model. they were separate mounts on the housing and had mounting plates welded into the floor pan of the Firebird. I believe autos had one bar and the manuals had 2. both my '67 326HO 3 speed manual) and '67 400 (4 speed manual) have 2. Attached is a pic of my '67 400 4 speed rear axle for reference. so there are a few different housing set ups depending on your 1967 Firebird model.

Bottom line is if you're looking to get your car driving either would work. if you're restoring a car to be correct you need the right year and version (if 1967)
