I used the SSBC kit on my '69. Their instructions were pretty good. I bent my own lines, which I think made the job easier. Almost everyone I've heard of that tried to use prebent lines on a conversion had to send them back or rebend themselves.
Yes, it is a great time to redo the whole front suspension, including bushings- it's almost all the way apart anyhow.  When I did mine I only had a gravel floored carport, so yes it is something that can be done with the car sitting on jackstands- just remember- SAFETY! I would say the front disc conversion was the biggest improvement I've done as far as drivability.
