I never understood the usage of the term 'clone'. Cloned how? Did someone take a real car and use it to create another genetically identical and authentic car by borrowing the other cars pedigree and heritage? No, you took a lesser car and dressed it up to appear like the real thing. It's a less negative way to say fake. Recreation is about the same, but is probably closer to correct.
