lol. I do not think you understand what drag racing was in the 60s. Sanctioned? That stuff was for the NHRA guys, 3-4 races a year. There was 20-100 times as much unsanctioned racing as there was sanctioned. It would not have made a bit of a difference. There were drag strips open 4-6 days a week running shows. Many of the bigger names, including Garlits, IVO, Karemesines, Beswick, Nicholson and Liberman were booked in for 100-150 dates in a given year. That is a booked in, pre paid match race every 2-3 days for the entire year! Then, you do it over again the next year. Think about just the logistics of that demand.
Those were the days where you- "run what you brung......and hope you brung enough".
