Yup, with the firewall, fender wells, and core support all having been painted to match the color change, it sure looks like this car was apart. Sold new in Placerville CA which is just above Sacramento, and it's in Fremont CA now, so it looks like it's been a NorCal car it's whole life. Therefore, rust issues should be minimal.

However, it's going to need to come apart again to repaint it the correct color, and if you're taking the front clip apart, doors, glass, etc to paint it right, you're going to pull the dash to repaint that area, and you're going buy new (GM) weatherstrips, and polish the brightwork, and buy the correct Rally II's, and new tires. While the engine is out to paint the firewall you may as well blast the subframe and redo the suspension. Better go through the brakes while you're at it. And while the engine is on a stand you may as well pull the pan and look inside, etc.... If you give a mouse a cookie! It would be a cool car when you're done though.
