In most cases the factory AC Delco mechanical pump even with stock size fuel line will supply enough fuel for most street rods provided the rest of the fuel system is up to par. Many guys running around with electric pumps that don't need them. Had a buddy with a 70 Judge with a 455 running in the 10's (trailered car) with the factory AC Delco pump. Just make sure you use the one with the return line.
