Eagle ST's were introduced in 1980. They were the entry level new Goodyear Eagle tire & for the first 6 or so years of production were of the small letter design similar letter size to early Polyglas Goodyears. Late in the 80's a larger font Eagle ST was produced. While the early Eagle ST's looked good, they were not sticky. I agree with Rex, they sucked, but they are from worst tire ever made.

The top performance Goodyear street tire of the time was the Wingfoot (into'ed in late '78) & the blackwall Eagle NCT, that replaced it. These had a 160 DT rating & would last about 6000-8000 miles on my T/A. The NCTs were avail as large as 265/60/15's & the 265's I had on the back of my T/A lasted a lot longer than previous 3 pair of 255's. Had to run Adam's shackles to get them to fit with 15x8 wheels. The Wingfoot/ NCT was built with aramid fibers and softer compound tread. Next, harder compound Eagle GT's were introduced in '81 & were oem on several GM's, One gave up some cornering ability with the GT's.
