Default HELP!Need info on what side of 4-speed speedo cable goes in for 69 GTO

My muncie 4-speed tranny in my 1969 GTO ram air III has the speedometer cable going in the drivers side of the tranny and the one I bought for my 69 GTO has the speedometer cable going in the passenger side.What is correct.Dont know if the tranny in my car has been changed before I got my GTO or if its the original one.The guy I got the rebuilt tranny says they go in the passenger side.Also can I get my speedo cable to work or if I get another longer one can I get it to work.Please let me know on this>Any help would be much appreciated.Thanks
