A race head for a Pontiac is pretty much a well developed Warp 6 or Hemi or a billet. So... its a "street head" just as much as RA5's, tigers, hi-ports, wideports, eheads, D-ports etc.. The more you develop them the closer they get to being a race head and quite true when heavily developed they are better suited for track use than street.
There have been plenty of non CV1 "high end" combos that never proved there hype either. Plenty of 800-900 hp Tiger combos compared to the few over 1100 hp... yet we have Stockers and Super Stockers flying despite their restrictions.
There is so much more to a build than just the parts used. Few take the time to find out what makes the difference. Worse yet engine builders and head porters make suggestions and customers want to do something different instead! Yet they expect good or better results not doing what was suggested.
CV1 builds are constantly under the microscope. Most the others pretty much get a free pass.
Was a time Slowbird was doing his hi-port build and was under someones microscope. He was treated quite unfairly(which mystifies me why he has generally treated the cv1 camp the way he does, when NONE were involved in the bashin during his ordeal)
Ask Mike Leech about things that were going on behind the scenes when he pulled big numbers from his E-head combo. Established "Princes" werent happy with his team doing what they said couldnt be done. Surprised they didnt come up with a cease and desist order!
Most these same princes are same folks who told us what the CV1 could NEVER do yet has.
Curt I understand your caution...especially with the last set of heads your not happy with. If you talk with Fulton I think you are going to find he entered into CV1's with caution and found out for himself what was true or not. Dont forget same guy did his wideports as your duds. (not to mention some high dollar billets that havent shown the hype)

A set of Gaby E heads with a single four on my car at 3460# was the first to go 7.94@170 mph 4 years ago when Robin Roberts with his CV1s at 3300# was burning up Pistons trying to get in the 7s.
That's just the fact right there!
And Ken Keefer took his CV1s off and went 9.70s with a 340 cfm E head from SD over his CV1 combo that went 10.00s.
Just the facts.
And comparing Brian Hedricks E head combo to his CV1 combo isn't even a close comparison.
And don't worry Bruce I will show you what those Billets will do, just keep running your mouth!
