$300 could leave you with rather large paper weights.

Yeah, I hear you on that. I used a guy named Marty Warden as he was close enough for me to drive down and meet one on one and discuss my plans for the engine and I had heard good things about him from some other Pontiac guys. When I save and scratch enough money together to redo this engine it will be with SD Performance most likely doing the aluminum head porting and setup and I have already decided to have Paul K do the assembly as I have been really impressed by his attention to detail and he was very generous with his help on the engine I just finished even though I hadn't used his company for any of it. I don't run in the same crowd you guys do as far as budget and skill level but I am sure I will be happy even with the ported iron heads I have now as it is replacing a 350 Pontiac engine than ran a blistering 14.7 in my Lemans before it ate itself earlier this year. Should be a year or two before I just have to upgrade to better heads and bigger cam, last kid will be out of the house by then and hopefully the wife will have forgotten about how much I spent on this build.
