I don't get the appeal of Five Guys - at least the ones by us. The burgers are smushed together haphazardly, the cheese is never melted, and the produce is always room temperature and wilted. Fries are ok I guess, but hit or miss. In-N-Out fries are my favorite, but you have to ask for them well done (or light well or extra-well) otherwise they'll be too soft. There are a ton of secret menu variants you can order.
https://www.foodbeast.com/news/in-n-out-fries-guide/ Shake Shack makes a pretty decent burger with a nice crust on it. Not a fan of their freezer section crinkle cut fries though.
