Dynomax super turbo necks down inside

Hey, just got a set of super turbo 17734 and when I look in them they neck down pretty significantly to before opening back up for the perforated tube. Was wondering is this is how they've always been. Looking for one of a Hand to chime in. Seems that it would impede flow pretty significantly. I'll add a couple pics but it's hard to tell from them.
