Quick one, as I didn't see any follow-up:

Those "front windows which open radially" are vent windows. What is particularly interesting about this era is the locking capability which disappeared when these gained cranks by the end of the decade. Hopefully, your locks still slide freely, and you have the vents opening and closing smoothly. The vent window is one innovation which has been lost to history, yet sorely missed by many of us.

Continued good luck with your work. You're an inspiration (work continues on the dismantling of my '56 Safari...almost ready to remove the drivetrain).
