The articles about it have had a huge variety of speculation of technology designs. Most if not all appear to be highly intrusive and objectionable. Oh, and I have to pay for all that garbage.

It's bad enough many cars shut off at stoplights. No, I would not purchase a vehicle that does that either.

Trying to navigate multiple touch screens to change the radio station or adjust the climate control on a newer vehicle is as bad as using a cell phone while driving. Yet, that's not being regulated. In vehicle breathalyzer units are widely used in NJ for DUI offenders, which is fine since the offender has to pay out of pocket for the installation. I don't feel like everyone should have to have it, the vehicle is being made responsible instead of the operator. People make bad choices all the time, sometimes the consequences are insignificant, and sometimes catastrophic. I don't feel like the choice should be taken away from people, at that point we are no longer a free society. If personal responsibility was more prevalent, we wouldn't need nanny devices. If someone chooses to operate a vehicle while impaired, it's on the individual. It's not the car manufacturer's fault, or the alcohol manufacturer. It's like going after the firearms manufacturers since an individual decided to use their product for an unlawful purpose. Following that precedent, it's only a matter of time before someone sues a car manufacturer because the vehicle manufactured by them was used by someone driving impaired, and harmed others in the process.

I don't like tech in my vehicles. I won't buy a newer vehicle for that reason, I also refuse to move to a newer vehicle for work. My current PPV has no screens, just buttons and knobs for radio and HVAC.
