March car sales up here in PT by 9.1%, of which 74.3% are EV's. I do note more on the road and charging stations getting busier.
It's a 2021 skoda enyaq with the 77kwh battery. I got it from a coworker when he left and I wanted it as it still falls under a very fortunate tax scheme (private use of a company y car means paying a level income tax over the cars value here in NL).

Longest trip I did with the car was from Hardelot-plage (FR) to Zaltbommel (NL) in December, that's approx 360 KM, no charging but driving like an old snail and sticking to 100 kph.
Newer cars can charge 3x as fast, mine averages around 60 kw charging speed.

I drove a gas version of that a couple years ago - perfect size for a rental or commuter car. It is a magnitude smaller than our e2008 w/54 kWh battery - your range is almost double what we get.

One of my old bosses bought a used Tesla from his wife's parents. Live in Orlando. Son goes to college in Tallahassee, they go visit. Very few charging stations at all, much less any higher capacity ones. They were stuck in Tallahassee for 2 days trying charge car enough to get home. Hotels, meals out and 2 days unexpectedly out of the office.

It's only 200 miles.

How much money did the EV save them on that trip?

There are 2 kinds of people.

1. Those who can extrapolate incomplete data

I live in what could be described as low EV adoption rate Alberta. But even here you couldn’t have this scenario happen today. Your follow up post that it happened 6-7 yrs ago makes sense, but not now.

That's not entirely true. Folks were having trouble
finding working chargers as recently as Mar 2025.

Well, I guess the Elon/EV hate in Boston is a thing. But a Tesla charging map of the Boston area shows multiple dozens of locations to charge and at least 3 with multiple super chargers like the one that is shown in the news. Maybe they were all vandalized?

That essentially car dealers are saying that when you buy a vehicle it is yours but the software in vehicle is only loaned to the new owner.
My two biggest concerns with EVs or new cars in general is the software glitches that often come along with it. Look how many times you have to update your phone just to have something else start glitching on the phone.
Had a couple modules fail separately.

GM has alot of sofrware reprogramming notices on many vehicles.
Some downloaded from GM to vehicle so yes brand pacific.
Mostly trucks from braking, cruise control and transmission shifts(replaced 1-2 each 8 and 10 speed valve bodies every day).
Out 18 techs 3 did just trans repairs and replacements.

Side note;
Actually watched in car driver cam on Cleetus McFarland ride, was cool hearing banter - instructions and watching maneuvers.
