Allen, I would guess alot..Picture this: Man is now a father,yet still has Muscle Car fever and wants a sports car, yet now has to cope with a family..Mom thinks car should be bought for entire family (2 or more kids, luggage,etc)for long trips, grocery,etc......Not many people back then had 2 or more cars like today..One car had to satisfy all needs....Compromise? Buy a GTO with Bench seat and kill 2 birds with one stone!

Nice olds. Was yellow a factory color for the car? I wonder why - - I'll have to drop tank & look for broadcast sheet.

I wonder why, if yellow was a factory color for olds, they used the - -? I know the Judges did not use #51 yellow, so I assume that's why mine has - - & change alert on PHS.

My 70 RA III must've been ordered to race. Bench, 3 spd manual, p-steer, AM radio, tint windows, sprg shock--that's all. I don't know all it's history, but it had lettering on the windows from the 80s of the driver's name when I bought it.

Thanks Roundport, I have had the Olds for years. It has some rare options/non-options for an Olds. W-30, No PS or brakes, 4 speed, spoiler, 391 W-27 Aluminum carrier.

I dont know why the -- on the extra optioned colors? I have had 2 Rallye 350's and both had the --. They made a lot of those.

Just going by PPG's Color Chips.
They show Color #2094 as being called by Pontiac in 1969 "Goldenrod Yellow" and in 1970 and 1971 "Golden Red Yellow".

On the Olds, "Sebring Yellow", "Rally Red", "Aegean Aqua Poly" and "Nugget Gold Poly" are listed as "Special Order Colors", but they all have Oldsmobile color codes.

There were some wierd things going on weren't there?

When they say "special order" they mean "extra cost". Special order is more like roundport's yellow Judge.

But, as said before, I have no idea why Olds didn't put the color codes in the data plate.
