Ya I was wondering the same thing about if they made the cutoff for the Engine Masters Challenge or not. I really hope they did so we can see what Kaase can do with a Pontiac.

I had a chance to discuss one on one the Engine Masters Challenge Pontiac build-up with Jon Kaase this weekend at the IHRA National Event In San Antonio. As any conversation with him, it was very enjoyable and enlightening. He said he had received the block, heads and other important pieces (BOP belt drive.) He commented that the block and the heads were very nice castings. He indicated the heads were very workable due to flow fugures and specifically mentioned the Pontiac port layout. He seemed to like the siamesed intake runners to allow the inside runners of the intake to be longer than the runners of the BB Ford. Mainly because the rule structure counts torque at 2500 RPM jsut as important as torque at 6500. He was planning a bryant crank with small rod and main journal diameters. Carillo rods were planned as with his past challenge engines. Out of respect for his combination know that he is a player in the 05 challenge at this point in time. If anyone ever has a chance to talk to him, he is very approachable, polite and cordial.

Yes, all IHRA Pro Stock semi-finalists at San Antonio were running his 815+ CID mountian motors. 6.40's at 217+mph is beyond belief. Highly recommend all the motorheads out there go see his equipment in action. WOW!
