I did the 80 swap in my old 4x and now it's in my dually. It's longer and heavier than the TH400, but can handle some nice numbers when built right, and the OD is nice on the highway. Be prepared to shell out at least $1500 for a kit to control it, getting a special lockup torque built another $800, etc... etc... It gets pricey, but if it's what you want then do it. There's also the option of getting it converted to a full manual valve body... I can't remember who makes a kit for that but it's becoming more popular. Hope it helps...

Ponjon, tried to respond to your PM but your box is full.
If it means I have to alter body panels, I won't do it. I'd rather swap rear ends and torque converters long enough to do the Hot Rod Power Tour and then swap back when I'm done. Money wise, I am on a budget. I need to keep it inexpensive so that's another plus for the rear end swap. That said, it would be nice to swap the tranny once and be done with it.

An almost direct bolt in is a 200r4. I got one in my car 3000 stall 7.93 1/8 with 3.42 gears. Only mod you have to make is the shifter and a wire to run the lock up torque converter. I have a non lock up in mine.
