I kind of agree,I dont see how leaving off a few things dropped a few hundred pounds.I know some T-37's wouldn't have sound deadener, underhood insulation, trim rings, pontiac name plate on the grille. And as mentioned the bench seat was lighter. Was there any thing else they could have left off to make lighter?

Trim rings were not avail on GT-37's...

Following are items that are lighter on '71 T-37 vs same year GTO. All add up.

-Hood, Endura hood is longer & heavier. Have 3 or 4 versions of each hood & will be weighing versions of each this Fall, just to provide the exact difference.

- T-37's standard fiberglass reinforced plastic front header panel & chrome front bumper are lighter than endura bumper, & head light buckets. Have shipped quite a few of these pieces out, & will be weighing complete asms, so the exact difference is noted. Interestingly, the core supports when loaded out with hoodlatch asms & front brace are very similiar in weight.

- T-37 bench seat interior. Above AMA spec comparisons mean nothing, as they compare the much heavier fold down arm rest vinyl/comfortweave bench seat avail in LeMans Sports & GTO's with similiar upholstery strato buckets. The T-37 standard bench seat is a LOT lighter in design, esp with paper thin Parody cloth trimmed in vinyl (vs the opt all vinyl construction). Over the last few years, I've hunted down, disassembled, & shipped several of the fold down arm rest variety, all to Buick GS restorers. They're def heavy.

-Carpet & floor insulation was std in LeMans, LeMans Sport, & GTO's.
T-37's did not come with the heavy tar based floor insulation. 2 piece rubber mat is lighter than carpet & floor insulation combined. Agree, just ACC carpet is lighter than 2 piece rubber floor coverings.

-T-37 came with std 7/8" front swaybar or the 1" front bar when Y-96 was opt was clicked off.
'70-72 GTO's came with 1 1/8" front bar, 7/8" rear bar, hardware & "boxed" inserts in rear control arms. At least 15 lbs added.

-Standard seat belt equipped T-37's & GT-37's did not have a seat belt retractor on passenger side of front bench... a few lbs.

-T-37's came with std wiper motor. LeMans, LeMans Sports, & GTO's came with heavier concealed wiper motor.

- T-37's did not come std with alum rocker moldings & hardware or bright scalp molding. It was optional. Rocker mldings were standard on LeMans, LeMans Sport, & GTO. Again, a few lbs.

-Hardly any weight here, but T-37's came without hood insulation. All LeMans & all endura nosed cars, except those with Ram Air aircleaner received the hood pads.
