I have ask this question before. Has anyone restored/painted the emblems? How did you do it and what was used? I have read through all the posts since joining and can't find where this was answered. Please tell me again or where it is posted.

Default Just paint them.

To repaint, just go to your favorite auto parts store and look up their paint matching colors. Pick the black and the orange/red you like. Use some artist brushes and fill it in. No big deal, just clean up the parts before you paint, and if you use too much paint, use some solvent to wipe off any excessive paint. I have used it on all the emblems including wheel emblems. It is not show car, but sure beats the faded ones.

Begin by polishing the raised chrome highlights with a small amount of metal polish, such as Wenol.

Then use SEM brand aerosol trim black, and carefully spray the emblem. Make sure you mask the "LeMans" area off prior to spraying. With reducer, carefully clean up the raised chrome highlights. Take your time and it will come out well. I have noticed that brush painting the black doesn't turn out as well. Remember, the areas around the "LeMans" area and between "sport" and "coupe" are supposed to be blacked out, unlike the current reproduction emblems..

For the red around the LeMans, use Testors 2724 stop light red model paint. It is very close to the original red. I compared the stop light red to my NOS emblems, and it was very close. Most people won't see the difference. Carefully brush the red in the proper area, or if you have an airbrush, thin the red and carefully spray the area..

I advise doing this to emblems without significant pitting.
