I purchased another glass, but it also has a smaller, but still noticeable scratch (it was really cheap). Is there any way of repairing these. The local shop I took it to said the scratches were too deep. Or at the very least, can they be minimized.

One other thing, both pieces are Soft-Ray tinted pieces, does that make any difference in polishing, Is the tint a film on the outside or is it uniform throughout the entire thickness of the glass?

Slash has it right, if your finger nail catches on it you can forget it. Tempered glass is impossible to polish. Windshields made of laminate can be done, but as far as the rest of the glass which is all tempered, no go!
