Where would it be on a 72 Pontiac built car?

Mine has A/C I can check it for you.

I'd go for under the rear seat or under the carpet. I just happened to have to install a rear and the tank hoses are trashed, so it was easy. Not as easy on car with hoses and a rear.
I pretty well got the info I needed though. I'm going to search the Judge for it's sheet soon.
With PHS being $50 now, I'm going to be looking for sheets on my lesser cars instead of sending off the money.

I could be all wet, but it might actually read TAG.

I have copies of several '64 Pontiac Plant Manifests that would say, as example, "TAG SMITH" or "TAG JONES". These notations were typed on the '64 record, not handwritten.

I always assumed this meant the car was a Dealer ordered car presold to a specific customer. Alternately or additionally, some of the "TAG" '64s seemed to be destined for a specific Pontiac Zone employee, as a Company Car.

Such builds might have been given a higher priority in order sequencing which is why they might have gotten the "TAG" notation.

The fact it is handwritten on the '70 Building Order document may just suggest that the method of identifying the car as a "TAG" build had changed, but the meaning was likely same as in '64.

I certainly agree that it appears to read "TAC" but the examples I've seen appear to be the handwriting of a single guy, so perhaps just his sloppy handwriting corrupting the interpretation.

Since I am not really certain what a "TAG" notation meant in '64, I can't be confident of what the handwritten notation might mean in '70. But I suspect a good possibility that they are related.

Forgot to say, a clear copy of the 1970 CAR BUILDING ORDER form is reprinted in Eric White's excellent Identification Guide book.

Slight difference from your '71 revision. I do see where your Copy shows SPRING and under that REAR and under that RH. & LH. boxes. The '70 Form did not drill down to specific RH & LH boxes. Same for SPRING FRONT.

Eric's version is the same as used for that "BUILD LESS STRIPES" '70 Judge.

Otherwise you should be able to decipher many headings from the copy in Eric's book.

From what I see in the pic you posted, the car has:

Axle Ratio 37G: 3.23 ratio, diff type (locking or open) indicated elsewhere
Tire Code PR: G70x14 Fiberglass Belted, Whitewall
Sales Code 403: AM-FM mono Radio with windshield antenna
Sales Code 424: Spare Tire & Wheel Cover
Sales Code 431: Console (available w/ Bucket Seats Only)
Sales Code 451: Custom Seat Belts - Frt. & Rr. w/ Frt. Shoulder Straps
Sales Code 474: Rally II Wheels
Sales Code 491: Wheel Opening Moldings
Sales Code 503: Power Steering (501) and Power Front Disc Brakes (502)
Sales Code 532: Soft Ray Glass, Windshield Only
Sales Code 582: Custom Air Conditioning
Sales Code 602: Endura Styling (not extra cost on 4200 GTO)
Sales Code 712: Safeguard Speedometer
Sales Code 742: Unknown, might identify specific badging by Model, 742 could be GTO badging but that is just a guess. Not an extra cost option appearing on the Invoice or Window Sticker to my knowledge.

John may be on to something here. Dealers even today must go through a "Tagging" process on special-ordered cars. When I ordered my G8, the dealer (In my case it was Enterprise Fleet Leasing working with their "favorite Pontiac dealer") had to "Tag" a car that was either already produced or scheduled to be produced. Once they Tagged my car, we could then follow its progress through the system. I actually have the build sheet for it (there were two, one in the glove box and one under the trunk mat) but neither of them say "TAG" or anything else hand-written for that matter. Just a thought.

I own a 72 GTO - I have the window sticker but could not find the build sheet, I disassembled the interior , the only place I didn't look was on the gas tank. Unless I've overlooked some other locations, where else could this build sheet be located.It's a Pontiac Michigan car.

I agree; "Tagging" is still the word choice that is used today to describe setting aside a particular vehicle for employee purchase. I had kind of come to this same conclusion regarding these build sheets except for the earlier comment about seeing so many from the Pontiac plant ("tagged" vehicles would be the exception rather than the rule).

I found a Lakewood built 72 LeMans sheet inside the driver's door panel, door handle punched right thru it. Not sure on Pontiac built 72.

Thanks! Makes me want to pull off the door panel this weekend on my 71 Lakewood GTO. I'm pretty sure it has never been off the car yet.
