Thanks everyone for all the replies. I think the solution I'll go with is to have the mufflers made in 2.5" IN and 2.25" OUT, so I don't feel like I'm losing anything upstream of the mufflers.
I know the money sounds like a lot, but the DCE system is about a grand, the R.A.R.E. manifolds coated were probably well north of $500, then the remainder of the system is going to eat up at least $500. That is going to be one expensive set of pipes. The cool thing is the R.A.R.E. manifolds look great, and so far the ceramic isn't wearing off at all.

71 Warbird, they will cost HP as compared to good straight through mufflers but compared to chambered mufflers, it will be basically a wash when they are open. But, you are already giving up some HP for the manifolds as compared to headers anyway so I would not get too overly concerned.
![]() ![]() They will be really loud on that engine when opened and should be very quiet when closed..the big 455s really crackle when open. ![]() Tom
