I was thinking the same thing. Maybe 'Metalfinisher' would be interested in it?

Right now, I've heard this:
"I heard the he had head trama. I was following what the officers told me that responed to the accident that he later died from the injuries from the accident from. The lateration on his head was not as minor as they led onto. " So much for the seat belt debate, eh? |

What no one seems to know, is this a real Judge or not. I'm guessing not. The Minneapolis metro area is not that big. I would think if it were a true Judge, or even a GTO, it would have made the trip to the Muscle Car Classic at sometime since it was finished, and someone here would have seen it. My 2 cents.

The full set of wreck photos is linked on the main page of http://UltimateGTO.com
There is also a Google Earth map with the street layout and pole visible. Further, in Google Earth, you can switch to Google Street View and see all around the area of impact. Virtually walking down the street views, I can see that the speed limit is posted on each end of the crash site at 40MPH. Interesting. |

The interesting thing is I haven't seen a single mention of this accident or the death of the driver in the local media - nothing in the paper or TV.

I talked to my son, lives south of St Paul, never heard a thing about it. Has the fate of the driver been confirmed? Needless injury or worse and what a waste of a great looking car.

Went to the accident scene this evening - lots of State Fair traffic - that's the 4H Building in the background in one of the images - talked to a guy that lives four houses down - car clipped a tree before hitting the pole - he thought the driver was trying to pass someone on Snelling and lost control - also said he thought it was a young kid - no accident reconstruction paint marks on the street that I could see - that's all I know for now-

My girlfriend just lost a nephew a few weeks ago, his wife fell asleep while driving and the vehicle rolled, she had her belt on and had relatively minor injuries. He was thrown from the vehicle and it rolled over on him. He didn't survive. For every instance that a seatbelt has cost a life, there are peobably 10 that it saved. There is a similar arguement about airbags. I have to agree that lapbelts only are probably not much better than no belt, especially with the pre-67, non collapsible steering columns. As for the 'new versus old in a crash' scenario, check out this video and see which car you'd rather be in: http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com...aspx?gt1=33009 -Dave

There's actually an update on this incident from a pretty reliable source.
See post #28 of this thread.. http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=609118

The weird thing is, that crash was never reported in any of the local news outlets as far as I know - there was nothing in the newspapers or on TV. You would have thought they'd have the field reporters all over that one.

I don't know about Minneapolis but in Atlanta, the only way a car wreck is going to make the news is if there are extenuating circumstances around it...eg., High speed chase after a crime, there are multiple deaths, there's a major traffic jam due to the accident, etc.

Certainly, the wrecks where there are deaths get covered but they usually cover unusual accidents as well - for instance, a couple weeks ago someone lost control of their car and crashed into a house, and it was on all the TV stations. This accident involved an unusual car on a busy city street, just a few blocks from the State Capitol. Plus, the just the night before there was a big report about street racing in that same neighborhood (an innocent passerby was killed when he was hit by a car) and I figured they would have tried to tie this one in somehow.

I really doubt that car is a real Judge. It just doesn't make any sense. Hope the driver is ok.

I spoke with a guy at Car Craft Summer Nationals this year that had a Judge identical to that one. He also has a pristine 71 GTO at the show. Both cars were immaculate but he said he actually didn't work on them, rather he purchased them like that. Regardless, he was a personable guy that had a passion for GTOs. I speculate that it may be that car. Maybe Rustie or one of the locals remember those cars?
