The only MSD boxes I've ever seen affected by high heat are the Digital 6 boxes. My buddy had one on the fenderwell of his '85 Dodge D150 pickup with a rowdy 440. If he sat in traffic for extended periods, it would eventually shut down, and he'd have to wait a few minutes for it to cool down. We bent up a sheetmetal heat shield for it, and it worked fine after that. We also took a small bit of the radiator air and sent it across the box with the shield.

I've always run MSD systems on my other cars, but since the Firebird came with a full Mallory setup when I bought it, it's stayed. The Hyfire 6al is mounted on the firewall above the header, and doesn't have any issues.

Funny, I never did until tonight when my son tried to tune in his Ipod transmitter to my radio. So the radio was tuned to white noise anyway. It was real faint as it was, took me a little while to figure out what I was hearing.
