Ok I had my #16 heads rebuilt, and I have a knock in either the #2 or #4. I have changed the rockers, lifters, cam and rods twice and the problem is still there. So I was looking at the studs and the #4 intake stud is higher that all the rest, could this be my problem? Is so, how can I push the stud down further without causing damage. If this is not the problem what do you think it is?

Does the problem come and go/different with engine temp/rpm?
You say knocking, but usually connecting rods knock and the valvetrain taps (the way I describe it anyway). |

Yes tapping would be a better word. It goes along with the rpm if the rpm is higher the tapping is faster.
I thought it could be spark knock but when I pull the plug wires the tapping is still there. |

Could also be exhaust leak (especially if you have headers)....

I pulled it apart and tried the two different torque techniques the tight then 180 and the 20foot pounds. But to no avail it still there, it’s driving my buddy crazy. I have placed the stethoscope everywhere I can’t find it. I will look for an exhaust leek

I know now I was informed wrong, but I have always thought the 16 heads had screw in studs.

Thats what I thought too but evidently there were some later 16 heads which did not.

I think the '68 and '69 16 heads are big valve, screw in studs, but the 16's made in '70 were small valve, press in studs.
