A few years ago now, wifey got a brand new little Peugeot 206. Didn't have the car even 1 week when she comes home fuming. I go out to have a look and there's this long 6" vertical ding in the door. OK, works out she went shopping parked it & when she got back there it was. This was no ordinary, oops the door slipped, to cause this damage, someone meant it. Maybe they didn't like Peugeots/the French!!!!
The kicker is that they hit it so hard the set the alarm off. (I could tell by the flashing LED on the dash that signifies that the alarm was activated). When I mention this to the wife she says, oh yeh I did hear someone's alarm go off while in the shop but didn't think anything of it. Doh, perfect chance to catch the guy gone. Anyway thank God for the paintless repair guy, $100 bucks later you couldn't tell and this was on black car as well. Wasn't there for the repair but am amazed how they can remove dents without damaging the paint.

I work at a GM dealer in the body shop so last week I took my T-37 to work and parked in the back where I can also watch my car all day and keep it away from any customers.

So im working away and I hear tires peel out and I look out the door and here is this idiot in a beat up F-150 we got in on trade peeling out toward's my car and slamming on the brakes. He did this twice and stopped very close to my car. I couldn't beleive he had the nerve to do this,had that piece of junks brake lines blew or he slipped off the brake pedal he would had smashed the hole driver's side of my car. He also had the nerve to walk through the body shop when he was done showing off,I looked at him and asked if he had a death wish. Later that day I saw him an a another car parked right next to mine turning on the winshield washer squirters and driving away. Thats the last time I will ever drive that car to work! Some people are real idiots!

That's why it's best to keep quiet unless you're about to move your car away for good and remain unknown. You could piss off someone enough that they'd still do something to your daily driver.

I've heard too many stories where someone parked at an angle in two spaces to come back to some kind of damage. It's hard to be low-key in a nice car, but drawing any attention can be be bad with the scum we share air with.

The idea posted earlier of having some kind of padded rod suspended from the window IMO is just asking for some mean person to come do something.

Sometimes I think I am wacko over my cars, but at the same time, if I witnessed someone do damage to a stranger's ordinary car, it would infuriate me, too. It still comes down to right and wrong. If people were caught, had something beat out of them, it would fix some of society's problems. Unfortunately, of all the stories posted in this thread where someone retaliated, if they were caught (and we live in Video Surveillance World these days), they would be thoroughly punished while the one who incited the incident would get slapped on the wrist.
